Mason Jars Are For Everything

My husband likes to drink from them, the neighbors bottle their BBQ sauce in them and I make crafts with them. They're for everything—you can find a million uses for them and crafts with them on Pinterest if you look. They seem to be huge for weddings currently.

And Moxie Fab World has a canning jar challenge up until October 26th, so join me as I enter these creations there. I got the free digi mason jar art online and if you want the link to one of them, it's here.

The first jar uses the Hero Arts Butterfly Fancy Die. I backed the die cut with a piece of paper I watercolored with gelatos and a water brush. After it dried, I used the Wink of Stella glitter pen for a subtle shine on the watercolor. I also used Tombow markers and Prismacolor pencils to make the lid.

This jar card uses Paper Smooches stamps (so cute I can't stand it!) and so I entered it in the Paper Smooches Sparks challenge where anything goes this week.

The last jar also uses Paper Smooches stamps, Freezy Fellas, and an unconventional color palette. I had the Neon Purple ink from Hero Arts out and used it on these guys too! A little watercoloring with the purple gelato on the hills coordinated perfectly. The trees and snowflakes are from Lawn Fawn. I made this into a shaker card, but it's only my third (I think) and I'm still bad at them! This time I just enclosed the jar in plastic stamp packaging instead of popping up a panel. Easier but not better than the panel. I'll either keep trying or give up on shaker cards one of these days!

Thanks to Moxie Fab for a a a great challenge and for sparking my interest! And thanks to Paper Smooches for such amazing Halloween stamps (I used Halloweenies and Spookalicious) and cutest snowmen ever!

Happy Wednesday!
Chark

p.s. I totally forgot to tell you I entered this at the Monday Challenge at Simon Says Stamp. They carry these adorable stamps too, so if you need the snowmen or the halloween guys, you can click this link to go to Paper Smooches stamps/dies at the store.

p.p.s. 9 more days til Halloween!

  1. Wonderful cards! I LOVE the colors on that butterfly!! And you're right, those Paper Smooches stamps are just too cute! Thanks for sharing these, and the link to the mason jar images. One problem I've found with shaker cards is the sequins sticking to the acetate/plastic, I assume because of static cling. I usually just dust the acetate with a powder bag, like you use for heat embossing, and that helps. Just a hint I'd thought I'd share. Don't give up on shaker cards, though! :)

    1. I'll keep trying and that is a good tip--I have a powder bag too. Now, what do I do about my inability to adhere things right? :)
