So when I took a Map Drawing Skillshare class online from published author/illustrator Mike Lowery, I chose my home state.
Here is my rough draft for the sites I wanted to highlight. It's kind of hard to see, I didn't take a great pic, because I was just taking it for myself so I knew what I wanted to put things after I started coloring it and was afraid I'd cover it all up.
Here's the final version after only a couple of hours. I used whatever markers I had, which meant I was limited on colors and paints. The green is a chalk marker and the red is meant for wood. I used a white wide Sharpie and a blue Pitt Brush pen. I'd highly recommend getting acrylic markers if you're taking this class. You only need a few colors, but I'm sure they will work better than my pens.
You'll notice a church where I got married, a horse to represent seeing Tecumseh's Outdoor Drama a couple of times, the Eiffel Tower replica from my many trips to Kings Island, the Dayton Art Institute which is one of my fave art museums and Brutus Buckeye from OSU, where I got my bachelor's degree.
I have a month of classes free from Skillshare and I highly recommend checking them out to see if that offer is still available, because there are a lot of different classes to try.
Happy Friday!
