Upcycling Wood Scraps

My husband is great at making stuff out of wood, we have loft beds, book shelves, a printer cart, and we had a playhouse (til those rotten kids grew up on us) to prove it. That means there is usually scrap wood in the garage...carefully sorted and stored, of course. He's the total opposite of me when creating, he's one of those neat n tidy folks, but I'll try not to hold it against him lol.

The point is, I see this cool bin of wood everyday and think, I should do something with that. Luckily, hubby is a sharer and lets me have whatever I want when I get the urge to make stuff. So I took some cut pieces of 2x4s and painted them with my cool new Dylusions Paint (hint, the pink can stain even after you clean it up).

Then I doodled some words and leaves and flowers (and colored with chalk markers) and this is how they ended up.

I chose words I actually need to be reminded of and colors I like and made some home decor. I consider them a success because the daughter asked for one for her future apartment. I told her she could make her own, but she's not 100% sure she can pull it off. I think anyone can. And if you don't like your handwriting, you can always use stickers to spell out your words.

Happy Monday!

What Day Is It Again?

The day off on Monday threw me off, I almost forgot to post on Wednesday, thinking it was Tuesday. And we didn't even have a snow day to add to the confusion, just the holiday. Ah well, these things happen.

Today I have a card made with a Neat and Tangled die. Love this geometric heart. I cut it out several times and then used different papers to fill in. In the white spots, I added Diamond Stickles. The heart insides and the outline are from paper that I had spritzed with my Dylusions ink sprays...loving those things!

I used my large and small ink daubers for the circles (with Distress Inks) and then some washi that my crafting friend, Karen, sent me out of the goodness of her heart. She also did a giveaway for those Tim Holtz Crazy Birds and I won those, and immediately inked them up. I'll share that project soon. Thanks for the extra washi tapes, Karen!

Entering the Little Tangles challenge here, hope you'll join in! They have some cute freebies if you don't have any Neat and Tangled stamps...this "hello" is one of them.

Happy (last few minutes of) Wednesday!
