So, I just got some Judikins' Sparkling Embossing Powder and loved what Jennifer McGuire has done with it, and I had to try it out. I made sparkling lemonade by using Hero Arts Neon Yellow ink, vellum paper and the new powder. Here's how it looks. Yum!
I took a wooden hello from Studio Calico and colored it with a pink Tombow Marker and then added the Magenta Stickles on top. the daisies are a border punch. Distress inks give a little depth to the edges of paper I picked up. Maybe at Michael's...it's the kind you buy by the sheet.
That's it!
Happy Monday!

Hello And Feel Better
Thought I'd post a card I made for a DT member, the very talented Lisa (aka The Purple Place) who had some surgery and is on the mend. Here's hoping the time will fly by and you'll feel better than ever very soon, Lisa!
I used my favorite butterfly stamps from Hero Arts, lots of Stickles and my new flower stamps from Hero Arts. I used a hello die cut from Papertrey Ink—it also gets a lot of use!
If you're looking for these stamps, a2z Scrapbooking Supplies has them in stock and ready to go. The butterfly also comes in a digi stamp that you can download right away if you're interested in inking these lovelies up soon! a2z Scrapbooking has the exclusive rights to Hero Arts digi stamps, so pop over if you want to see what's available. And, since you're such a loyal reader, you can use my name (CHARK15) to get a 15% discount!
And, you can also join me in the Colorful Challenge at A Blog Named Hero this month. You do need Hero Arts products for this challenge too, and you'll find some wonderful inspiration over there!
Happy Wednesday and I'll see you back here on Friday!

Hiya, Valentine!
I decided to make some Valentine cards for the nursing home my mom spent some time in this summer. The Caring Hearts Card Drive inspired me. I've been contributing to the card drive for a couple of years because I love the idea, and after seeing Mom's nursing home in person, I understood how much of a difference a card could make in a person's life, if only to break the monotony of the days.
So I picked Valentine's Day as my date to get about 80 cards finished. But I'm going with more generic cards than Valentines just in case I don't make the deadline. Here's a card I tried to make suitable for a man or woman.
I started with an embossed card base, stamped an older Hero Arts silhouette stamp (you can find it at Jo Ann here.) on Hero Arts patterned paper, added a ribbon behind a preprinted sentiment—fast and easy and hopefully good. I added more black to the ground with a marker, mostly to cover up the messed up stamping :) I like to think I'm the Queen of Coverups, since I make a lot of mistakes and have a lot of experience "fixing" them.
I'm entering this card over at Craft Stamper Magazine's January Challenge. They have a great prize pack this month, check it out!

It's A Beautiful Day In The Neighborhood
It's gorgeous and sunny and will get close to 60 degrees today, so I'm enjoying it all I can. I hear there's cold coming so today might have to be my garden clean-up day. In the meantime, I'm drinking tea and thinking about putting away my crafty stuff I had out over the weekend.
Here's one of the cards I made this weekend, with this Hero Arts Butterfly Fancy Die. I used a felt applicator and Ranger alcohol inks on photo paper. Then I trimmed it to fit the die-cut butterfly. I attached the body to the inked paper with a glue strip and didn't adhere the wings. I like the bit of movement it gives to the butterfly. I used a white gel pen to add some dots to the wings.
The background is patterned paper with a piece of watercolor paper mounted on top. I used the Hero Arts Border Stencil that you can purchase here at a2z Scrapbooking Supplies. I used white embossing powder that is here in the store too. Then I used scribbled with Tombow markers on an acrylic block and used them as watercolor paints. Once dry, I used the Lawn Fawn stitched rectangle die.
The last addition is the Hello die cut from Papertrey Ink. I used silver foil paper (check Jo Ann Fabric) for the die. And that's it!
Happy Sunny Monday!

p.s. The blog title comes from Mr. Rogers. I loved Mr. Rogers' show as a kid...he always seemed so calm and trustworthy. I still love him as an adult and parent and admire him and his wisdom.

Fridays Rock
I'm not sure why, but I'm especially happy to see Friday this week...not like it was especially busy or anything but inside I'm all Kermit arms flailing and saying "YAAAAYYYYYYY!!!"
Hope you're having a good Friday too! Here's a little hello card I made with the beautiful Hero Arts stamp called Antique Gratitude that I got from the a2z Scrapbooking Supplies store. I love this blossom.
I stamped it in Pumice Stone (distress ink) around the edge and then stamped it in Staz-on black ink on acetate. Then I dripped Ranger alcohol inks on the back of the acetate and trimmed with my new Lawn Fawn stitched rectangles. Love! I used regular dot tape runner to affix the acetate in strategic (can't see) places. Then I added ribbon, a wooden hello and some pearls.
In this pic, you can see that it's a piece of acetate (stamp packaging in this case).
And here's a little close-up view of the corner. I think it turned out artsy and vibrant and it works for me!
If you're interested in this stamp or other scrapbook/card goodies, you can stop by the a2z shop and use my extra-secret code to get 15% of your order of $25 or more—type in CHARK15—for the dt discount. YAAAAYYYY!!!
