Books, Bears and Birds...and Bunnies

I got the cutest little stamp set featuring books and critters in order to make some cards my librarian daughter could give out. And the set comes with tea and coffee sentiments for those who like our books with a cuppa. It's called Books and Coffee and it's from Waffle Flower. 

For this first card, I just picked some favorites and started stamping. I added sun and cloud die cuts from Lawn Fawn.

I decided to try a white bear for this one. I added steam to the cup and glossy accents to his glasses.

Same stamping, different coloring. I used Prismacolor pencils on all of these.

I removed some of the stamps and added the sentiment. I feel like he needs some background, but my daughter snagged it before I could add anything.

This card features more books and added bunnies.

And this one is the peeking bunnies only. I just wrote thank you on the book, though I'm guessing I have a little sentiment stamp somewhere that would fit.

And my last card featuring this set is just the birdie and a bunch of books.

Sometimes when you get a new stamp set, you just gotta stamp!

Cards and Congrats

I have two cards similar to two cards I created for the Lasting Hearts Card Drive that I wanted to use as sympathy cards. I tend to (probably like most people) make a lot of die cuts at the same time, stamp the same images on multiple card fronts and also watercolor a bunch of things at the same time. 

If I'm going to break out the Big Shot or my paints and brushes, I will get as much out of the mess as I can. Because then it all gets put away for the next time, and I don't want to think, darn, if only I had made two heart dies so I could use another one today. 

That's why these two cards are similar to my other two from last week.

I find sympathy cards difficult to make in advance, because you don't know who they're for but I think birds and hearts are pretty universal and someone will find them comforting, I hope.

And now for the Congrats part of the post. My daughter, who will be graduating from the University of Kentucky very shortly, received the Raymond Betts Crystal Award for her outstanding service to the Honors Program at UK. She's been a peer mentor for three years, began the successful Arts Night Gala for student music and art, started a Harry Potter themed Murder Mystery night that had 80 participants this year (and which she wrote), has been a helpful hand, listening ear and just generally been her awesome self in the Honors Program. I wasn't able to get there, but here's the pic she sent from Monday night's award ceremony. Congratulations for being honored for your service to other students, Colleen, so proud!

Birds of a Feather

I won some Tim Holtz Crazy Birds from Karen over at flickr Hero Arts and she included some washi and inks and the day I got them, I had to ink them up.

I used the Cracked Pistachio and Abandoned Coral Distress Inks and stamped. Then I used a water brush to color them with the same inks. I used a pen to add some details and then fussy cut and mounted them on a card base. The Hello die is stickled (that's a verb, right?!) with Diamond and the birds have a touch of Stickles too. You can see that in the close-up.

I just made the grass with the pistachio ink and the sky with Broken China.

These guys are just so fun. They have tons of stamps that you can accessorize the birds with too, which is funny, but I like them fine on their own.

This card I made with a digi stamp from over at 2 Cute Ink Stamps. Love this little guy. The sentiment is made of clear stickers from Kaiser Craft. He's colored in Prismacolor pencls.
