Cinderella and the Night Sky

I'm joining in The Heart Desires Challenge this month (only hours left!) with this color challenge. This is my second entry and I saw the challenge through Amy Tsuruta's Facebook page. I love Amy's work and she made some adorable cards for The Heart Desires blog recently. Here's the Color Mood Board...soooo pretty!

I used a new die I just got this clip art image of Cinderella and the Prince...she might be my favorite Disney princess just for nostalgia reasons. I had her book and little long-playing record to listen to when I was little. The "sky" is a die cut and I made the colorful background with Tombow brush markers scribbled on a plastic sheet and spritzed with water. I then dragged the die cut through the paint. I had to be a little careful with the colors so they didn't make a muddy mess in some spots but this ended up okay. To avoid muting your colors, you can use only similar colors and not opposites. Green and Red, Purple and Yellow and Orange and Blue should be avoided combos.

A Dream Is A Wish

One of my very favorite Disney movies is Cinderella, the original cartoon version, and I have a couple of the books. One I got so I could use for crafting purposes. I trimmed a piece from a page and added some layers of paper, paint and a little Prima wooden doll and added it all to a piece of scrap of 2 x 4 wood with Mod Podge. It's meant to be for display in my artsy area.

I used my new Bubblegum, Fresh Lime and London Blue Dylusion Paints...they are so bright and pigmented and I used some white acrylic paint and black marker as well, to write the text and add hearts and dots.

I had the Little Long Playing Record of Cinderella (and Sleeping Beauty and Rapunzel) when I was little and I loved them. It was like having someone who could read to you tirelessly and whenever you wanted by playing the record. And you could turn the page of the included book when "Tinkerbell rings her little bell like this." 

Ok, enough reminiscing for now. Gotta turn off the computer since it's lightning out.

Hiya, Girls!

I used the cutest die cut girls to make some tags and thought I'd share how they turned out. They're from Pretty Little Studio and I just love them so much. Their die cuts are vintage cuteness, don't ya think?

I used Canvas Corp black and ivory printed paper pad for the backgrounds and various distress inks to ink the edges. And then I added little bling bits to spice them up. These shiny hearts are Doodlebug Design.

They were fun to make and I'll probably use the them for gifts or cards. If I can part with them. I may need to buy more for myself. Luckily, they are inexpensive!
