a2z Scrapbooking Monochromatic Challenge

It's time for a new challenge up on the a2z Scrapbooking blog and if you enter a Monochromatic themed project, you could win a free digital stamp set...and if you use Hero Arts or Sugartree Stamps, you could also add $20 to the store to your prize!

Here's a peek at my project, but head over here to see all the DT projects and all the details on how to enter!

For this card, I dripped Blue and Yellow Hero Arts liquid watercolors onto some textured paper. I trimmed the panel and added this cute turtle (colored with Prismacolor pencils) from the Hero Arts Mermaid Stamp and Cut set. The sequins and pool card are also Hero Arts, as is the sentiment.

I love dripping the bottled watercolors onto different papers to see what happens. You can find them here at a2z. Use DLT15 to get 15% off your cart total of $25 or more.

Happy Friday!

Baby Shower Card with Doodlebug

I love Doodlebug Design products, they are always cute, always great colors and just always want to come and live at my house. And sometimes, I even use them, like this Under the Sea mermaid.

On this baby shower card, I watercolored a background by smooshing and then added a mermaid I just fussy cut (imperfectly on purpose) from a sheet of paper. I added bubble-looking gems and a ribbon. The sentiment is from another collection that isn't Doodlebug and has been in my stash forever. It's past time to start using some old stuff.

The mermaid is covering a part of the paper that ran together and made an unattractive color. But she certainly helps save this panel. I popped her up with foam tape and added rhinestones to her shells. I actually considered glitter, as always, but I thought the bubbles were enough. Crazy, I know!

Here are the bubble gems in close-up view.

Happy Thursday (because I totally thought it was Wednesday today)! See you tomorrow for a normal MWF post.

Mermaid Love in Ombre

To enter A Day for Daisies' new 2-color challenge, I used my fave colors, green and blue, to color up this adorable mermaid. I fussy cut her and then mounted it on cardstock that I stamped with my favorite water drop stamp by Designs by Ryn in different colors.

I printed this digi as a 4x6 image, used my blues and greens from my box of Prismacolors, added scales with a black pencil and then marker and added white highlights with a gel pen. After that, I used Diamond Stickles for her whole tail, though you can only really see it the end of her tail. Then I put some sequins in some of the water drops and I decided to stop decorating.

I love the classy, free-flowing drawings at ADFD, and the fact that you get a free digi for the challenge if you don't own any of their stamps. But once you start browsing their store, I'll bet you find something you gotta have. I know I always do!

Happy Thursday!
