Distress Oxide Inks for Easter

I've had playing around with the new Distress Oxide Inks and have posts here and here about them. And I used them with oval infinity dies on this a2z Scrapbooking post to make Easter eggs.

Today I'm using the Hero Arts Floral Border die in white Bristol paper.

1. I swiped the Oxide inks in Worn Lipstick, Cracked Pistachio and Blueprint Sketch onto a nonstick craft sheet and sprayed with water.

2. I dragged the paper through the ink and made sure it was fully covered with the ink. Then I let it air dry. The inks were a pretty smooth covering on the paper and as it dried, the shading happened on its own.

3. While it dried, I took some regular (not Oxide) Distress Inks in Squeezed Lemonade, Picked Raspberry and Salted Ocean and swiped those on a nonstick sheet and sprayed those with water. Same process, different types of ink. I dragged the paper through the ink and let it dry too.

4. I die cut the dried and Oxide-inked paper. Then I mounted it to the Distress Inks colored paper. I made sure the blues and pinks were placed opposite to each other.

5. I wrote Love You in white Uniball pen, outlined it in blue pencil and made a card with it. I like how the Oxide inks automatically get some marbling/textured look while the Distress inks just merge and meld together. You can see the difference between the background and the die cut parts here.

If you have some last-minute Easter or coloring needs, you can head to the free digi stamps section of Simply Cards and Papercrafts page. It's where I got this cute guy.

Happy Easter Fools' Day!

Ok, I know it's past Easter and it's actually April Fools' Day today, but I have an Easter digi I never got to share so here it is in full color. I decided to put a rainbow behind this adorable bunny from 2 Cute Ink and really wore down my Prismacolors doing it! Lots of pressure and a couple of layers and you get this bright, bold rainbow from pencils.

I kept him white with a little gray shading and pink ears and belly so he stands out. Have I said I love 2 Cute stamps? Cuz I do!

Gotta share a couple of April Fools' food pranks we've played (the kids and I) on the hubby in the past. This classic grilled cheese is actually pound cake and icing, grilled in a skillet. This one actually worked!

This spaghetti cake was fun, but didn't fool him...still it was tasty!

And these Cake Fries worked too—we just served them with buttercream thinned icing so we could get the tomato color just right (they use raspberries at this link). You don't even have to crinkle cut to get a good fry look, just make them thin sticks like  you get at McD's.

I  think these are much better food pranks than this one—toothpaste Oreos. Gross and not a fun surprise...don't mess with my Oreos, people!

Hope you have a fun day with no mean pranks...that's my plan!

Happy Friday!

Bordering on Obsession?

I dunno, friends, I'm doing lots of coloring. Like, a lot. Now that I've joined the 2 Cute Ink Stamp Club, where you get new digis every month, I've been breaking out my Prismacolor pencils a few times a week.

Sure I do it when I'm watching TV, or talking to friends, so it's more multi-tasking than finding new pockets of time, but not gonna lie, I'm wearing down the pencils!

Ah well, there are worse things than printing out these cutie stamps (or the digis I've gotten from A Day for Daisies) and then relaxing with a few while I drink my tea at night...right?

Here are two from the other day. I love this bird, he's going on a birthday card very soon.

And this bunny will be doing Easter card duty soon. So, all this coloring is good for the mind and they'll be sent in the mail to someone, so I guess this obsession is just about right for me. Now, my cupcake obsession? That's a whole 'nother story. But when the local bakery makes the best buttercream ever, can you blame me? :)

Happy Friday!
