You Wanna Pizza Me?

I recently got the My Favorite Things Pizza Maker die and stamp set I've been eyeing for awhile. I started my obsessive pizza card making session with my first slim-line (long) card. Once you start die cutting these pizza pieces, you'll be like me and finding it hard to stop!

I ran the pizza dies through with a variety of colored cardstock and made piles of ingredients. There are pepperoni, onion, olives, mushrooms, cheese, sauce, crust and green pepper dies. There were two die cuts I guessed on, a small triangle shape that I think is pineapple and then a larger one that might be ham or tomato. I used a lot of my scrap cardstock, so the mushrooms were different colors of green and the pepperoni was a bright red and a darker red. But I just grouped the same color on each pizza.

For each crust (a variety of browns/tans), I intermittingly inked the edges with Vintage Photo Distress Ink so it looked like it came from a wood fired pizza oven. Then I started assembling the pizzas, and ended up with almost a dozen little pizzas with some leftover bits. For these cards, I used a shimmery silver paper for a pan on the right card and I trimmed a piece of wood paper into a pizza peel/paddle.

For this one, I put the pizza on a square of cardboard (kraft paper) like our local pizza joint serves theirs in the restaurant and made it into a pocket for a gift card.

The patterned papers are single sheets of picnic patterned paper I got from Scrapbook.com. The pizza paper is a single sheet from Michael's. I had a blast mixing and matching the pizzas and then the papers.

I typed out the Delivering Lots of Hugs sentiment, even though the sentiments from the stamp set are really cute. I hope my friends and family are all ready to get pizza cards this year!

Pizzas for Months

Happy Pizza Month! I love me some pizza. I once had a character (in a story I wrote) love pizza so much it was literally what he was living for. So, yeah, I love pizza. It's also International Artist Day, so to make the most of your day, you should probably eat some kind of artistic-looking pizza. Perhaps like these from Giovanni Landi.

The only problem is that eating these would be a shame...so I'll just take one from Papa John's, with their soft crust and garlic dipping butter...yum! Or you could make these cute cat pizzas. I wouldn't feel as bad, since these probably don't take as long to make.

And if you're looking for a Halloween pizza idea, maybe you should make these mummy pizzas before trick-or-treating.

And yep, like my previous pizza posts (I have quite a few for some reason), I have a crafty idea for you too. This paper garland comes in a kit from Paper Source, but I'm betting you have enough paper scraps at home to make it without the kit, if you're like me.

If you want an artistic banner instead, I love this idea from life is a party's blog. Paint chips are free, just add letters!

And if you want to theme it up for the whole month, try reading these books. Here's a picture book about pizza in Italy for kids.

And here's an adult novel that features pizza apparently. Haven't read it, but here you go!

And lastly, here's some free digi art to celebrate Artist Day! Head to thoughtgo.com for this download and more masterpiece art.

There you have it...pizza and art celebrated together. Now I need some pizza and my crafty tools...time to create!

Happy Wednesday!

Pizza Party Day

Who knew there was a national Pizza Party Day? Not me, until today, and now I'm pretty sure I'm gonna need a pizza for dinner!
I've been eyeing these stamps at Lawn Fawn for awhile, what do you think, should I get them?

If I did, I could make cute cards like these from their blog:

Here's a recipe for  Rachael Ray's pizza puffs if you want to make your own.

And the even easier Pizza Turnovers with Crescent Rolls, we make these a lot at my house, but you gotta have two packs of the rolls or there won't be enough!

What's your favorite take-out pizza place? I love Jet's and our local Marion's Piazza and another local, Flying Pizza. I know one thing, any pizza is better than no pizza.

Here's a free digi from Dearie Dolls if you want to have a pizza party with a coloring activity.

Happy Pizza Party Day!

National Pizza Month

Yeah, boy! I love pizza, and we just ordered Jet's. I had a pizza boat which is a gooey mess of cheese, mushrooms and green peppers (in my case), along with pizza sauce and garlic/parmesan crust. It's huge and delicious.

If you like fast and easy recipes, here's one I kinda stole and changed a little from Martha Stewart. 1.
1. Take frozen roll dough, place in greased muffin cups and let rise in a warm place til doubled in size.
2. Push down and deflate the dough in the cups. Take out and stretch a little and put back into the cups.
3. Add 1 Tablespoon pizza sauce and cheese and a couple of toppings and bake at 400° F for 12-15 minutes. Don't use too many toppings, since these puff up and can spill over.
Everyone loves these at my house.

Here's the original recipe for their instructions.

As for the crafty side of pizza, you can buy these here or make something similar if you're talented.

If I were thinking ahead, I'd have made you a pizza related card, but you'll have to settle for these Winnie & Walter cards I made with their free holiday digi images here and their rose dies. I used the same watercolor background I made with Distress Inks and watercolor paper.

Happy Wednesday!
