Crafting With My Favorite Bear

I've loved Pooh Bear since I first saw him on TV when I was a kid. I loved his little round self, his penchant for honey, his slow way of talking and his little giggle. When my kids were little, they had the collection of Pooh stories and we read them over and over. I even have video of my daughter doing a play she wrote for the characters and her Pooh impersonation. So, when I saw a Make Cards Today Pooh Bear magazine that was available overseas, I bought it in a hot minute so I could have the stamps and printed pieces of the friends from The Hundred Acre Wood. It took a long time to get here, but I'm so happy I ordered it!

It sat for two days before I could create with it and now, of course, I can't stop. For this card, I used a watercolored background (using Tombow markers) I had already stamped and made a fun cut on the front panel that I saw on FB.

For this card, I used the same background stamp, but went with a rainbow background. The Pooh Bear was just an outline but on this scalloped die, I just used some alcohol markers to make him the right color.

 

This card is pretty small...I had made it with leftover piece of balloon paper and was just waiting for a focal point. The tag included with the magazine was just right.

I made one more card, but sent it off before I took a photo, for my Pooh-loving friend's birthday. I think his calm demeanor, along with his cuteness and determined search for honey are what make me smile. When I realized how wise Pooh is, along with being funny, I liked him even more. Here's one of my favorite quotes.

It's So Much More Friendly with Two

Happy National Winnie the Pooh Day! It's A. A. Milne's birthday today and he was born in 1882. I grew up in the 70s when Disney put out the The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh, the animated film. And I loved everything about it—how there was a narrator, how they showed the text of the book and Pooh interacting with the words, the story, the characters, the drawings. 

Pooh is so innocent and kind and not-too-bright and you want to protect him. Piglet is like many children, just a little afraid of being little. Eeyore has the best gloomy attitude...funny and sad and he has friends despite his gloominess. Tigger has all the excess energy of a toddler and the talent for knocking things over in his eagerness, just like kids. And Christopher Robin is the best friend who can make everything better. This movie made me feel happy and I watched it every time it aired on tv, and then I bought it for my daughter on VHS, which I still have! I also got the books and read them to my kids and Pooh stuck with them too.

I saw Christopher Robin when it came out this fall and asked for it for Christmas. My hubby got it for me and we all sat down to watch it. It's a story about how a grown Christopher Robin meets Pooh and friends again and it's delightful. The voice actor for Pooh and Tigger is the same from the 70s! Everyone in my family enjoyed the movie. 

I'm sharing a little card I made with Kindred Stamps and already put up on the blog, but it features the cutest Pooh stamps, so I had to share again. I used Prismacolor pencils and drew in the tree and grass.

I also have a non-Pooh-related project to share and that's this blackberry digi stamp card I made with Power Poppy Cherries and Berries set.

I colored it with Faber-Castell Polychromos pencils and then added the sentiment with a black Faber-Castell pen. It makes me think of berry picking in the woods, and I like to think Pooh and Piglet did their share of berry picking in the Hundred Acre Wood. Aha, it IS a Pooh-related project!

It's So Much Friendlier with Two

If you saw Monday's post, you'll know how much I like Winnie-the-Pooh and the original cartoon, the book and the latest movie, Christopher Robin. I saw someone over in England had a pack of Christopher Robin 6x6 paper they had purchased. I looked high and low here in the states and online and didn't have a lot of luck, so I ordered from a company called Laney's Crafts in England. They have a lot of products for some great prices and this paper pad was inexpensive...and they have two other Christopher Robin 6x6 packs (one with foil) that I should've gotten! The shipping wasn't terrible, even though I ordered paper, and she let me know about what it would cost before she sent it. I'm certain I'll be ordering from Laney's again!

The bad news is that I didn't order extras, the good news is that there are three sheets of 12 styles, so I'm going to break up the pad and give away 12 sheets of 6x6 paper AND a full pack of the letter tile stickers from her shop, as well as some Disney die cuts with the original art from my stash. You could win all this and maybe a little extra just by leaving a comment here and following my blog.

Oh, Bother!

One of my favorite things in the world is the story of Winnie-the-Pooh. I looovved the cartoon when I was a kid and when I had kids, I bought them each the story books. I loved reading it to them and then hearing them read it to me later. It's such a sweet and lovely story and I've watched both of the live-action movies.

I love the Christopher Robin movie with the little animated/CGI animals. It's going on my Christmas list! I highly recommend it if you're a fan of Pooh. All of this to say, when Kindred Stamps came out with their Childhood Friends stamps, I had to buy them. So cute!

I haven't made them into cards yet, but I have stamped and colored them. I drew in the background scene for both. In this first version, I just used Prismacolor pencils and went for traditional coloring.

For the second one, I did the black edge coloring that I do sometimes with my Prismacolor pencils. I think it makes the images pop. I also outlined the tree and grass to match. 

There are at least 5-6 Kindred Stamp sets I want at any given time, including some cute Oz ones that sell out pretty frequently. And they have a new release coming up! Their Pop Culture stamps are the best, you can click here to take a look.

Teatime with Pooh and Piglet

A friend just gave me a set of rubber stamps from a yard sale she got for less than 50 cents...she loves Pooh and friends too and knew I like to stamp, so it was the best gift ever! I literally sat down that night and started stamping. 

It's an old Christmas set and Pooh is actually holding a present, but I cut them apart and gave him a little tea cup instead. Piglet looks excited to get it.

I adhered them to a piece of canvas that I watercolored and made it into a "tea bag" tag. I put the pen in the pic so you could see how little it is.

I did the no-line watercoloring with Tombow markers and paintbrush. I'm entering this on the last day into the Coffee Loving Blog Hop.

National Winnie the Pooh Bear Day!

How cool is it that we have a day to celebrate Winnie the Pooh? I loved him and all the creatures in the Hundred Acre Wood when I was a kid and I still do. To celebrate, I'll show you some beautiful and not-so-beautiful professional Pooh Bear cakes courtesy of Cake Wrecks.

It's A Pooh Bear Post

Seriously loved Winnie-the-Pooh tv specials when I was a kid...totally loved them. Now they are "movies" and we have them on DVD and my kids watched them too. I never saw the classic Pooh illustrations until I had kids and I love those too. When I found the die cut pack of them at Jo Ann's, I bought them. For no real reason or plan, but they make me happy. I made a tag with them for a Papercrafts Magazine submission call and although it didn't get picked for publication, I did get two things picked up for February's issue, so I can't complain.

Here it is, using a Prima tag, Lawn Fawn papers from a win from Heather Ruwe (thanks, Heather!), and a little cellophane bag and filler. 

The ribbon is glittery eyelash yarn and I have no idea where I got it, but Martha Stewart makes some. With her own two hands, probably, she might even card the yarn herself from the sheep she keeps. That woman makes her own marshmallows for cocoa...or her assistants do...but someone does and that is kinda weirdly impressive. I shall continue to purchase my marshmallows and yarn already made, however.

The word stickers are Tiny Text by Cosmo Cricket, also from Jo Ann Fabrics, and they are awesome as well.

It's A Blustery Day Here

If you're a Winnie-the-Pooh fan, you know that means it's windy and rainy and basically the kind of day you want to spend indoors...doing crafts...all day. Hmmmm. Sounds good to me! 

Here's a card I made with my new Triangle Background die from Hero Arts and a2z Scrapbooking Supplies. I have tons of different papers that I cut out the other day, so expect to see a lot of cards with this die. It's easy and fun to use and I love how it looks.

 

Tigger and Piglet are stickers that are appliques that someone gave me. You can sew them onto clothes, but they aren't terribly thick so I thought they'd work for a birthday card. I used Bazzill Swiss Dotted cardstock for the background piece and just a bright blue for the die cut piece. 

Oh, and Pretty Little Studio is having a one-day (today!) sale on printed vellum. Each sheet is just 50¢ on sale. I previously bought the stars and woodgrain in aqua—love! I'm buying more today.

Marie Capistran over at the blog made a layout with the rainbow vellum here. Lovely, isn't it? The flair and butterflies, as well as the labels are PLS too. I don't work for them, just like them.
