A Haunting We Will Go

Happy Halloween! Tomorrow's the big day and even though things are weird this year (thanks, Covid), it still needs to be celebrated with scary stuff. I'm actually a big baby and will do about anything to avoid scary movies—including seeing another movie by myself at a theater or making up chores at my sister's house. I avoided Pet Semetary and Silence of the Lambs in these ways, respectively. I prefer the cute Halloween stuff usually...like this free digi I drew a couple of years ago. You can right click and save and use or see her colored up on this post.

However, I do like being mildly scared. Like, I can actually watch the original Halloween because there's very little mayhem and blood. And I loved reading The Shining, though I literally took the book outside to sit in the sun to read when it got too scary. Oh, and I love a good vampire story/movie. But zombies freak me out and when my hubby and son watch The Walking Dead, I'm usually sitting at the computer, watching YouTube crafters. There are entirely too many squishing sounds on that show, btw.

Here's a mildly scary project I did for Halloween decor. I used two mdf gravestones from my stash, you can find similar ones here at Alpha Stamps to paint. I added creepy kid photos I found online.

And here's a cute little scene I colored with Prismacolors that I made with free digis from Useless Trinkets. You can head there to pick up some free digis, including coffee monster and chonky unicorns. Sooo cute! Thought about smoothing out the pencil marks but I actually like the look.

Lastly, I'm sharing my librarian daughter and the 5th grade teacher team as they dressed this year. What's better at Halloween than Scooby and the gang? My kid is the ghost...which we decided was a great Covid-year costume. Plenty of cover!

If you're in the mood for a YA graveyard audio book, I found Neil Gaiman's The Graveyard Book at my library and it's a great listen...it's also a great read. I did both! You can buy it here if you want.

A spookier YA novel is Frozen Charlotte, which I enjoyed, and even scarier, The Dead Girls of Hysteria Hall. These books were fun and scary, which is my favorite kind of Halloween read.

I'll leave you with this Halloween treat idea, because I love me some cake. Just make or buy a pound cake, add white frosting in criss-cross shape and add some M&M or candy eyes. Fast and fun! You can get the coffin template and a recipe here at Woman's Day.

Happy Halloween!

This Is Halloween and a Winner

I love The Nightmare Before Christmas with Jack and Sandy Claws, so this song is stuck in my head, even though we have a few days before it is Halloween.

But I do have two freebie Halloween images that I doodled for you today. A witch and jack-o-lantern. All you have to do is right click the images below and save to your computer. If you end up making something with them, let me know!

And I wanted to pop in to say we have a winner in the Pooh Bear giveaway and that is @nancyscraftshack from Instagram...congrats, Nancy! Contact me with your info so I can mail your goodies out.

And lastly, if you didn't win this giveaway, I hope you'll follow me on IG (top right button) so you can try to win my November Thanks and Giving Prizes. There will be one each week in November!

Happy Friday,

Halloween Freebie Friday

Hey, friends, I was doodling (as is my wont while watching the tv) and made this little ghost for Halloween...so I thought I'd share him with you if you're looking for something for a tag or card or even a scrapbook page. Just right click on him and copy and save to your computer.

Of course, I'd love to see if you do create something with him! I decided the handle on his pumpkin should show through his arm...but it's got to be a ghost pumpkin or he couldn't pick it up...or could he?

Just in case you're not into cutesy, I've got this freebie for you today as well. It's from The Graphic Fairy. I think it looks like she's in a library, what do you think?

I love Halloween for no good reason, but crafty Halloween stuff makes me happy and so does decorating and maybe even watching a scary movie, though that last thing depends on my mood. I don't like gross, so that leaves out a lot of horror flicks. I did just watch The Bad Seed (Rob Lowe's version) and Winchester, a historical ghost story, and I didn't have to cover my eyes once! My hubby and sister are hard-core horror fans and her hubby will watch them too but I usually regret them or find something else to do! Here's to a mildly scary Halloween!

Happy Friday!

To a Fun-gi

I used the freebie mushroom digi stamp I got from The Alley Way Stamps, but I don't see this one on their site and the store closed down last year. So...you can still pop over and get their free digis, but not sure you'll find this one. The sentiment that goes with it is "Happy Birthday to a Fun-gi" and I think it's hilarious.

I added the eyelash marks and some doodles in white and black. You can see more in this close-up.

It's mounted on kraft and then a periwinkle kind of blue glimmer paper that I used this We R Memory Keepers Next Level 3D Embossing Folder on. I love these 3D embossing folders. They look so cool!

I found a fungi stamp set you can get your hands on if you think it's funny too. Memory Box has this set available.

I like the "Morel Support" sentiment too...cute!

Happy Wednesday!

Coloring Freebie

I got this coloring freebie from Dawn Nicole on her blog, Dawn Nicole Designs, and you can hop over there and get your own freebies. She has coloring pages, lettering worksheets and free inspirational printables too. It's a very cool place to be!

Here's my colored version...I added the word Create and some extra black doodles to the existing doodles...mostly because I had a black pen and a piece of paper in front of me. It was irresistible.

My notes from high school and college were covered in doodles and drawings. And when I'm on the phone now, good luck finding the actual message on the paper amidst the drawings!
I used Prismacolor pencils on this one and a black Sharpie pen. It's super fun to color and not too complicated, which tends to scare me off.

Not sure what I'll do with this one, maybe I'll put into my art journal. I'm not sure if it's necessary to do anything with the coloring when I'm done...it's mostly the process and not the outcome that I enjoy. Thanks, Dawn Nicole!

Happy Friday!

Merry Christmas

Hi, my crafty friends, can't believe it's almost Christmas...especially since I still have to get some things!!

Thanks for stopping by throughout the year and for commenting, I always look forward to seeing who stops by.

Here are some free digi tags if you're like me and still have to wrap some things. This is my favorite one, little chubby Santa.

Hope you have a lovely holiday season!

Happy Friday,

Cutie Monster Card

I got this digi free from Useless Trinkets and you can too! She offers a lot of free cute images, including this little guy holding a coffee cup that I used in this post. You can also download free Halloween images and an adorable chubby unicorn...and there are some matching sentiments too!

This is for a first birthday card for my great nephew, Charlie. I'd like to say he was named for me (though he wasn't) because c'mon, Char/Charlie. Close enuf! :)

I am also fooling around with watermarks for my pics. I'm using the cute shark image since Chark sounds just like it. Haven't decided yet if that's what I'm going with, but it was really easy in Pic Monkey...and free!

Oh and because it's National Cookie Month, I'm including the link on how to make these cute Cookie Monster cookies. I love both cookies and Cookie Monster, so maybe I'll actually make these. You use a flower cookie cutter for the base, and m&m and white chocolate disc eyes (the Wilton candy melts). Katrina uses shortening in her frosting, but I prefer butter or margarine in my icing. But, who are we kidding? I'd totally eat these anyway!

Here's Cookie doing his own Elmo's World show.

Wanna Cuppa?

This is my last entry for the Fall Coffee Lovers Blog Hop...this time using another freebie digi stamp (I can't seem to find where it came from, but I think someone posted it on one of these hops) and a hugs die from Lawn Fawn. What makes this rainbow a fall theme? I've seen more rainbows in the last month than I have all year! We've had so much rain and weird sun combos, that I've seen at least three in the last month!

Happy Hopping and Happy Friday!

Oh and if you love Paper Smooches, and who doesn't, they're having a blog hop and giveaway right here!

Lovely Harvest Fairies

I just stumbled onto Crafts & Me, by seeing someone's blog with the DT button for them and checked them out. They have this cool freebie stamp and contest going on on their FB page here. They sell digi stamps and rubber stamps by one of my favorites, Hannah Lynn Designs, and a whole bunch of other artists. Couldn't resist the freebie, by Robin Pushay, though it was a little daunting at first—lots to color.

But in the end, I watched both The Originals (vampires in N'awlins, yes, please) and Downton Abbey (flappers and motorcars for your perusal) and had a ball while I took hours to finish this.

First I used my Prismacolor pencils, then added Tombow markers (which are pretty vivid) and then added fun dots and lines with the white gel pen. Next was some watercolor with one of the light blue Tombow markers for the sky and finally, yes, Stickles! I stickled Star Dust the wings of both fairies as you can see better in the close-up.

I don't know why I gave the top fairy purple and white striped tights, technically they should've been black and white in homage to Wizard of Oz, but I didn't think. Next time, she's getting Dorothy shoes too with my Xmas Red Stickles.

Happy Tuesday,

Cheers to My Winner

The Coffee Loving Winter Blog Hop is finished (sadness) but it was all fun and amazing to see again, just how many coffee, tea and cocoa designs there are! Thanks to all who gave out freebies and thanks for your sweet comments here on the blog and on my flickr account!

The winner of the coffee outline stickers and some fun bling is...Shelly Kurth from the flickr comment on the photo "You're my cup of tea."

Thanks again for the supportive comments on my projects and my freebie tea cup here.

I wanted to share the very first project someone else has created with my doodles. It's from the talented Carrie Sheridan. Isn't this the cutest? I love that snowman bg paper!

You guys are the best!

Happy Holidays...But Which Holiday?

Thought I'd share the goodies I won from Laura Carson over at Artfully Musing during her Haunted Village event.

Of course, they're Halloween goodies, but I love them all so much and received them recently, so here they are, despite Christmas being just a week away!

This stencil is super cool and the fun embellies are going to be a blast to use.

Notice the orange and green eraser brains at the top left. I asked my daughter (who's 21) if she wanted one and she chose the purple. Later I heard her say, "Awww, cute, it has a little brain stem." I guess the was the perfect thing to offer her!

Here are some of the chipboard pieces I received from Laura. Now, that's what I call a prize pack, thanks, Laura!

And for all those tea lovers out there, feel free to save this image and use it as a freebie. I made it in preparation for the Coffee Loving Winter Blog Hop, because tea and cocoa are the focus this time around. If you do use it, please link my blog to your posting and let me know if you do, so I can see how you colored it!

Happy Friday!
